Open-cast mining

Underground mining
Young Africa MINING has excellent relationships with key underground mining operators across the continent of Africa. If you partner with us, we manage the mine on your behalf of bring on board underground mining contractors, who have proven their worth and are willing to put ‘skin in the game’, together with you.
Tailings
New technology can make it viable to rework tailings – i.e. ‘waste material’ – left over after mining. For instance, platinum group mines can have tailings that are rich in chrome and are useful for the production of chrome concentrate. Similarly, older gold mines used inefficient technology and often have left behind gold-dust particles in their old mine ‘dumps’. This ‘freegold’ can be extracted by Young Africa MINING using state-of-the-art technology. If there is any unsightly ‘mining dump’ in your area, contact us. Socio-economic development
Young Africa MINING doesn’t only focus on mining operations: wherever we start mining, we introduce the “Young Africa PROGRAMME”, through a close collaboration with the “Young Africa DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION”, a non-profit organisation, which focuses on helping communities where the mines we work with are located, to develop in a holistic manner, socially, economically, as well as maintain environmentally sustainable mining practices. For us, it’s not just about getting the mining product out of the ground: we see mining as a Key Economic Driver in any community in which we start operating. By working with the “Young Africa DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION” we are able to stimulate integrated local and regional development of people, businesses and the environment.
Environmental Restoration
Young Africa MINING chooses to work with mining specialists, who are also nature-lovers! Showing respect for the animals and the environment in which we are mining, is one of our core business values. We aim to never simply leave a gaping hole or a mountain of dust behind, when our mining operations close… Every mine has the potential to be developed as an ongoing asset for the socio-economic and environmental well-being of the community, in which God has placed the minerals underground. We consider ourselves as ‘stewards’ of these valuable resources, and encourage the communities and service-providers whom we work with to adopt a long-term perspective on handling these underground gifts, with consideration for future generations and nature.
